Income Generating Activities
To ensure sustainability of Little Rock’s activities and to empower the mothers of Little Rock, the management team has implemented a number of income generating activities such as weaving, tailoring, beading, and basketry. The rock pad project started as a result of having our teenage girls miss school because they could not afford sanitary pads. Together with our partner organization Eliminate Poverty Now we started an initiative of making reusable sanitary towels for teenage girls in primary school.
IGA’s main objective is to make our school and parents self sustainable. Mothers with children at Little Rock get location, material, and training to make products such as aprons, bags, table cloths, mats, and school uniforms. The school sells these products and gives an income to the mothers, and the rest goes to the running cost of the school.
